Testimonials

“After riding and showing Saddlebreds for many years I stopped riding when my daughter started showing. As time went on I felt the desire to ride again, however now being a senior citizen I felt it was very important to do so in as safe an environment as possible, and I had lost a lot of my confidence and balance. My daughter suggested learning to ride western and so I agreed to give it a try. I was fortunate to find someone with excellent teaching skills and a safe environment as well as gentle lesson horses. That place is Rea Quarter Horses in Shelbyville, Ky. I have been riding there now almost two years and it has been by far the best two years of riding and learning I have ever experienced. Barbara and Rusty Rea not only provide a fun and safe riding experience, they also build confidence, self esteem, and improved riding skills and knowledge. They share freely of their experiences and teach in a fashion that is constantly building a good riding foundation, regardless of your level of experience or knowledge. I feel truly blessed to be in a place that is so beautiful and welcoming and everyone I have met there has been friendly and pleasant to be around. I would highly recommend them to anyone who loves horses and wants to ride, regardless of age or experience.”

“Barbara and Rusty Rea are an honest, dedicated and a hard working team.
When it came time to send our 2 yr. old for training, I told my Dad he could pick the trainer. We had discussed our options and he picked Rusty. For the simple fact my Dad had watched Rusty at a couple of shows and was very impressed with how he handled his young and green horses in the show pen. (My Dad was a ring steward).

So Olivia is now a 4yr. old and we are still going strong with Rea Quarter Horses. I along with my horse have learned so much and will continue to learn. I want to say thank you Barbara & Rusty for opening the door's to their knowledge and their house to me.”

“I just wanted to let you know how pleased I am with Zach. I felt as though I had a new horse after having him at your place this winter. With the training and polishing that Rusty gave him, we have been able to do several trail rides this summer and what a difference from last year. Zach was well mannered, socialized and actually listened. Your facility is beautiful. What a wonderful place to have to ride at, if I only lived closer! I look forward to seeing you again this fall for the winter.”

I returned to riding horses after a 30 year absence. My goals were simple - to improve my riding skills and return to the show ring. Barbara and Rusty Rea have gone above and beyond the norm to help me achieve my goals. Not only have I been grounded in the basic fundamentals of horsemanship, from properly wrapping a horse's legs, to correct body position and use of leg cues, but encouraged and motivated to achieve higher levels.
The Reas have been a constant source of support. Their advice in working with horse soundness issues, to nutrition and grooming was well directed. Rusty's unique ability to match horse and rider assisted me with the purchase of my horse. He matched our skills and personalities not only for the present, but with future goals in mind. He helped turn my dreams into reality. Barbara and Rusty are honest hard working individuals that are truely dedicated to their clients, their horses and their profession. They are the best!
